I received this note from a webinar I “tried” to take part in RE: foodborne pathogens (used up all my download in about 5 minutes:(). My take is that small scale producers should be able to take advantage of this data potentially demonstrating the problems with indutrialized food production.
“70% of produce contamination happens after the produce leaves the farm! One study looked at the removal of outer leaves in romaine lettuce and results showed a significant decrease in contamination levels when compared to other processing procedures like produce washes.
