Advancing the practical application
of draft animal-power…with the
Draft Animal-Power Network (DAPNet)
We are a non-profit organization of full and part-time farmers, foresters, loggers, teamsters, animal owners, homesteaders, land owners, and folks interested in learning more about any of these activities. Not only are there still people using animals for power, but there are many that do it for a living or to support their families’ lifestyle in a kind and sustainable manner.
The goal of the Draft Animal-Power Network is to highlight ongoing efforts of people throughout the region who are educating, mentoring and building community around animal-power and renewable land use, providing opportunities for education & networking throughout the year.
The Draft Animal-Power Network is working on obtaining independent 501(c)3 status but in the meantime works under the non-profit sponsorship of Rural Vermont. Our Board of Directors is full and active, but seeks new volunteers each fall to serve the organization. There are also several working committees that often have openings for member-volunteers. Please contact any of our board members or our administrator if you would like to get involved.
We Publish a Quarterly Newsletter. If you would like to advertise, submit and article, calendar event or classified ad (classifieds are free to members), please contact our administrator, Rebekah Perry.
Please join our international online discussion forum, also known as “the DAP forum”. You can read any of our thousands of discussions and add to them once you register with the site.
We rely on memberships, donations, sponsorships and grants to provide the website, online forum, our events and the continued development of our organization as a hub for people interested in working with draft animals to share, learn, and network.
Please become a member so we can keep you in the loop and keep our organization plowing forward. Membership benefits allow you to support the work that DAPNet is doing, receive our newsletter, take advantage of our classified ads and get discounted rates to our our events. Business and Founding member benefits include being listed in our online Business Directory.
We hope that you find the Draft Animal Power Network to be a valuable resource, and remember if you can’t find the information that you are looking for please use our online forum to search for topics or ask questions. Our members have a wealth of knowledge and are very generous about sharing what they know. For questions about our organization please contact our administrator, Rebekah Perry.
