I would love to hear what people have to say about this year’s event. I spent much of the time at the admission gate greeting people. Everybody seemed very excited to be there, many of them told me how far they had come to attend. One young girl was so happy she got to get out of 2 days of school to share this experience with her parents.

Tell us your stories, the highlight of the weekend and if you have suggestions for the next time we try to pull something off as fantastic as this event, let us know what they are.

    Thanks

    Jean

I think most people had a great time. All of the folks I spoke with were impressed with the
event. I did not get to all the workshops as my interest was with the oxen programs.
As you know Nick & I volunteered a good amount of our time doing signage and kitchen help plus wherever needed. There was lots to be done on Friday.
The workshops I attended were very impressive.
The committee in charge did a fabulous job of putting this event together. It is not an easy task.
I thought the potluck was a little sparse Perhaps in the future folks could tell in advance what they plan to bring.
The Saturday evening dinner was not up to expectations Some pasta, meatballs, chicken, veggie platter, fruit platter, stew etc. would have added to the menu. the guests were asked for $10-20 donation. It really left something to be desired. Next time will be better, I”m sure.
On the other hand, Sunday breakfast was a feast in itself. Nothing was left out. There was a crowd. Folks who came in late still had several choices.
I do know how much effort, planning, cost, planning, contacting vendors, presenters. planning, last minute details, planning, cost, cost, cost, are involved in these events, then try to correct any last minute details. Been there, done that.
I just hope I was helpful for your event. Yes, I know I am a member but too far away to attend regular meetings.

Anyone who was thinking of attending this event but did not, really missed a valuable education.
The weather was perfect, folks were friendly, lots to see and do.
Nick & I got back home in the Goshen, NY area around 9:30PM on Sunday. It was 6-7 hr trip. We hope everyone else got home safe.
I will send photos in a day or so.
We are having the Hudson Valley Draft Horse Corn Harvest next Saturday, Oct. 5,at the Saunderskill Farm, 5100 Route 209, Accord, NY 12404, should anyone be interested. It will be different from the DAP event, since we have more suburban/city folks attending. Everyone is welcome to see what we do.
Thanks for the opportunity to be part of the event.
    Robin
