Participants begin by learning how donkeys differ from draft horses and the distinctive characteristics that make them steadfast farming workers. Skills will be taught and honed with simple ground driving while progressing to field preparation and other farming tasks with a team. Logging with Draft Horses — November 15th-17th, 2024 — Tillers International
Draft horses, oxen, and donkeys will demonstrate skidding logs from Tiller's woodlot. Safe, and efficient low-impact techniques will be taught for felling trees and skidding timber. Students will get hands on instruction in all areas of draft animal logging. Marketing logs, and profitable will be emphasized throughout.
